Guests frequently praise this Holiday Inn Express for its clean, spacious rooms and helpful, welcoming staff, noting standout service from individuals like Sheryl. However, concerns about guest safety have been raised due to a high incidence of vehicle break-ins reported in the hotel parking lot. Other notable issues include noise levels (from thin walls and traffic) and an overwhelming floral fragrance that triggers asthma for some.
My daughter and I stayed here for a long weekend in January. The hotel was very clean and smelled great. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The maintenance guy was super helpful in making sure my cousins (also staying there) and I could watch the Packer playoff game. He really went the extra mile. The location is great and the area was quiet. I was told before we arrived that they had smart TVs - they do not, at least not in our room. But as mentioned, they were able to help us out with the game so it worked out. I will stay here again the next time I'm visiting my sister.
I stayed at this property from January 16 through January 18 in connection with a stay to play youth hockey tournament, expecting a routine and secure experience in what is widely promoted as a premier area outside of Charlotte. What occurred instead was one of the most troubling hotel experiences I have had in years, particularly for a brand with which I have long held loyalty. I am only now learning, as I write this review, that this stay was not applied to my IHG account and that I did not receive points for it, despite being a member and booking a qualifying stay. This discovery further underscores the lack of care and attention surrounding the handling of my reservation at the front desk. During my stay, my vehicle was broken into in the hotel’s parking lot. The window was shattered, personal property was stolen, and damage was sustained to internal vehicle components. I was not an isolated case. Approximately fifteen other guests experienced similar break ins, making it abundantly clear that this was not an unfortunate anomaly but a systemic security failure. This was later confirmed by the local police department. As a direct result, I am now facing in excess of $2500 in repair costs, an expense that should never have been within the realm of possibility during a short stay at a reputable hotel in a supposedly safe and well maintained area. This incident transformed what should have been a family focused weekend into a financially and emotionally distressing ordeal. More concerning than the crime itself was the hotel’s handling of the aftermath. There was no visible sense of urgency, no clear communication strategy, and no meaningful reassurance provided to affected guests. Many of the steps that were ultimately taken occurred only after persistent advocacy by myself and other guests, rather than as the result of proactive leadership or established incident response protocols. In the immediate aftermath, parents requested access to a conference room that we were told was reserved for meetings, not for the tournament, for a modest and reasonable purpose. The children needed a place to eat dinner together, and the parents needed a shared space to watch the NFL playoffs and decompress following the realization that our vehicles had been vandalized. This request was met with resistance rather than accommodation, despite the extraordinary circumstances and the fact that the space was not actively in use at the time. At no point were we offered clear assurances regarding enhanced security measures, nor were we provided guidance on how guest safety would be addressed moving forward. Ultimately, I personally paid out of pocket, in cash, to secure an additional room solely to provide parents with a private space to regroup and decompress after the break ins. Even more troubling, that cash payment later appeared as a charge on my room upon checkout, raising serious concerns about billing practices, transparency, and internal controls. While our team was fortunate enough to succeed in the tournament, the overall experience at this property overshadowed that success. Although we won that weekend, what this hotel lost was my trust and my future business. I will not return to this location, and this incident has caused me to seriously reconsider my continued patronage of IHG affiliated properties more broadly. Guest safety is not an amenity. It is a foundational obligation. In this instance, that obligation was not met before, during, or after a significant criminal event. This experience reflects a failure not only of security, but of leadership, preparedness, and accountability.
I like to get a hotel room for myself on NYE so I found this place on Groupon. I think the location is very convenient. The customer service was great! I was greeted and treated warmly by the front desk and they gave me a goodie bag which I thought was a nice touch. I was impressed with just the customer service alone before I even got to my room. The room is nice except I only have 2 complaints: the shower could have been a little bit cleaner and I wish they had Netflix or something other than cable on the TV. Neither of these were major enough for me to complain about to anyone. They had breakfast in the morning but I didn't get any because there were other people there and people scare me so I just went back to my room. I have pics but it doesn't do the room justice. I came here to relax and got what I came for and I'm definitely going back
The listing for this location shows it as a 2-star facility and should be revised to 4-star. Reliably comfortable and cozy, this location was nicely decorated for the holidays. During a very cold week, we were comforted with a soft bed, clean crisp linens and plenty of hot water to keep us warm. Notably, the housekeeping staff never stop, keeping this place spotless from stem to stearn. I especially appreciate the coffee and tea bar that is well stocked 24/7 in the hotel lobby. Front desk staff are friendly and welcoming. WiFi is fast and reliable and TV is large with plenty of content to watch. #highlyrecommend.
The location is excellent. The room was nice, especially for the price. I choose hotels for value and convenience, not luxury. The main disappointment was breakfast and corridor noise. As a value option in the area, they seem to have attracted some guests who are, shall we say, less disciplined in terms of behavior. Running, yelling, loud knocks (including one that might have been a child pranking guests by knocking and running). I've stayed at a number of HI Express hotels and this breakfast had fewer options. It was (powdered) eggs OR omelettes, not both. The yogurt was expired (today is 11/10 and the expiration date you see in the photo was six days ago). You had to dig all the way to the back to get current ones. Front desk staff was very polite. I would consider staying here again because the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The drawbacks I mentioned would be factored into what I would be willing to pay. So I'll give it 4 stars (I wrestled with 3 - it's really 3.5 to me).
The male host was exceptional. Called ahead with questions and he was very friendly and helpful. He remembered me and that we had been to Carowinds that day and asked us about it! The cleaning crew was awesome because our room was spotless and immaculate. Beds were comfy with each sleeper getting 2 pillows with embroidery labeling soft and firm on each pillow case. The 24-7 coffee downstairs was so good with fresh ground beans for every cup. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
My experience at this Holiday Inn location was overall good. It is a nice, clean hotel with complimentary breakfast. The location was convenient as it wasn't too far off the main highway. My only complaint would be the noise from the traffic out on a busy thorough fare and the mattress was way to soft for my preference which made it hard to get a good night sleep. This hotels rated at 2 stars which is accurate from my experience however the room rate was a little high for a 2 star hotel. If you're looking for a nice place to stay but nothing fancy, this hotel will do.
Room was great and when the heat was on, the system was quiet. Turned on the air to cool the room to sleep, the system became noisy. Staff was great and moved me to another room. However still had the same issue when you used the air conditioning
This hotel exceeded our expectations. It was very clean, the room was extremely spacious and the bed was comfortable. Dove toiletries provided, plenty of towels and wash cloths and plenty of lighting options. I loved the ambiance lighting behind the headboard, tv, and closet cabinet. We will stay here again. The breakfast was also nice, offering a different meat option each morning (either turkey sausage patties or bacon as options) and the staff members are exceptionally sweet and helpful. The location is also convenient to shops, restaurants (some in the parking lot) and the interstate for quick travel options.
Warning: if you have any scent sensitivity, avoid this hotel at all cost. They have a large scent diffuser right at check in, you cannot avoid not having it sprayed right into your lungs at check in. It permeates all the front lobby, hallways, and elevators. Within 1 hour of checking in, I needed to evacuate as it triggered an asthma attack. Front desk was lovely, checking me out and bringing my receipt outside as I gasped for air in the parking lot. Apologized and gave me no issues, only to later deny a refund because I “used” the room. I literally sat on a chair and ate their goldfish snack as I battled my labored breathing until it was intolerable and had to leave, seek medical treatment, and book a scent free Hilton. For this they kept my $125 rate. I will never book a Holiday Inn again.
