Recent guests praise the beautiful campus location, spacious rooms, and excellent food options, though the hotel suffers from inconsistent service and limited communication, particularly regarding lost property claims and event management.
Great customer service. I stayed here for a conference and the conference room was good enough for our attendees. Easy to access and great food. Nice and clean room. We had power outages but they did great customer service to take care of us
Stayed here for a conference and had no power the entire time due to a burst pipe. While accidents happen, the service was unacceptable. Staff argued with me over needing two flashlights for a pitch-black room. The mattresses were like hammocks (completely saggy), and the room had no soap, lotion, or water. To make it worse, management offered almost no compensation despite the hotel likely being covered by insurance for the outage. Very upsetting stay—Marriott can do much better
My stay was amazing thanks to bartender D'nea at the marriott's restaurant the golden owl! Her attention to detail, wonderful personality, and interactions made the snowed in weekend beyond enjoyable. I'll definitely stop by to get amazing service!
We stayed at this hotel recently. The room itself was clean, the bedsheets were fresh, and hygiene was generally good. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of our experience. The reception staff was rude and unprofessional. We had booked a queen room and were informed that check-in for this room type was not until 4:00 PM, which is unreasonably late, especially for a one-night stay. Another major issue was the housekeeping staff. They knocked on our door randomly starting at 8:00 AM, asking if we were checking out and if they could clean the room. This happened again at 9:00 AM, waking us up twice. It seems there is poor communication, as they clearly did not have an accurate list of checked-out rooms. This was extremely annoying and disruptive. The hotel does not provide breakfast, despite having relatively high room rates. Additionally, there is no hotel parking. We had to use public parking in front of the hotel, and every time we left and re-entered—even briefly to pick up food or explore the area—we were charged again. To make matters worse, when we checked in late and asked for a late checkout, the reception initially refused and said it was only allowed for guests attending chess tournaments. When we explained that we were indeed there for a chess tournament, they suddenly changed their response and said late checkout was “first come, first served.” This inconsistency and attitude were very frustrating. Go elsewhere .
We’ve stayed here numerous times because we like the room space, restaurant downstairs and tv options for streaming when in the room. However, we will not ever return due to leaving an expensive necklace in the hotel room drawer Tuesday upon checking out. We did not realize it until Friday when packing for another trip and immediately called the hotel. The receptionist stated the drawers are checked by housekeeping after each stay and nothing was found/ turned in. There’s no way that’s true because that’s where it was left. I asked for a manager to call me and no one has called yet. I do not recommend staying here if you value your possessions/ trustworthiness/ simple customer service.
I am Gold status Marriott and stay majority of time with Marriott. stayed 3 nights (Nov3-6). The crew are not helpful. First night I meed to change the room from 6th floor to 3rd floor due to excessive noise of ice maker. Let alone the new room at 3rd floor was much lower quality and lower hygienic, I was fighting with bed bugs all 3 nights. Majority of my nights spend killing tiny little bugs that already bitten me all over my body. The manager instead of simple apologize (Stephenie). She said she will send investigator if she found any bug! And guess what!, they call me and said there were no bug in the room. I only could captured the photo of one of them on my bed as it was large enough to zoom. Very frustrating hotel like Marriott in a brand new branch has such service. Apparently it was not only me complaining about bedbug, many others did as well due to feedback from group joining for the confence.
I recently had a retirement event in the area of this Marriott. We had several friends and family members from all the country who stayed at the Marriott located on the beautiful campus of UNC Charlotte. The receptionist booked all of my guests on the 5th floor and we were actually able to upgrade some rooms. Parking was easy and convenient as guest were able to park free on the 3rd floor of a deck directly across from the hotel. They were able to easily walk over the catwalk directly into the hotel. The staff was friendly and continuously ensured that our stay was comfortable. We stayed four days and three nights. The staff ensured that our every need was met. I highly recommend the Marriott Hotel located on the beautiful campus of UNC Charlotte.
Our rooms were clean, but we had to move rooms. Half the hotel is on a railroad and busy road... I got zero sleep. After moving to "University" side... it was quiet and peaceful. Staff was really nice and went out of thier way to do something for my son's birthday. Valet was fast. The only other down side was the MClub. It was not well stocked nor very clean. Breakfast was evey three star... not what I would expect from Marriott.
Overall great stay, albeit short. The hotel was clean, including our room and the lounge. Staff was very friendly and pleasant, which was a welcome bonus to our quick stopover. The lounge breakfast was good and had plenty of good food and fresh fruit. The staff made a minor error related to a charge, and when I brought it up they owned it and removed it no questions asked and with a great attitude - well done! The only minor quibble is that they did not really address our Titanium status and benefits at check-in without some effort, but it wasn't a big deal. Overall would definitely stay again and recommend.
The hotel was nice and was located in a great area. It was easy to get around to different restaurants and entertainment venues. The overall room was nice. However, the sheets were not clean and did not smell fresh. The beds were made, but it was apparent that the sheets had not been completely removed and changed for new guests.
