The Duke Mansion consistently receives high praise for its historic charm, stunning grounds, and exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff. Guests frequently highlight the beautiful setting, attentive service, and delicious breakfast, often recommending it as a unique event venue or special occasion destination. While some have noted minor inconveniences, the overwhelming sentiment is one of delight and appreciation for the property’s ambiance and care.
I’ve stayed here as a guest and have photographed weddings here as a professional, full time wedding photographer. Not only are the grounds gorgeous, but you can’t beat the location, nor the level of customer service. This beautiful historic mansion is always my number one recommendation when I hear people are looking for a location to host an event, or a stunning wedding venue. The staff is amazing, and the breakfast is delicious!
Darius and his staff were super accommodating and thoughtful! Could not ask for any better service! If you and your spouse are looking for a wedding venue in Charlotte you should absolutely consider Duke mansion
We have our church Tea Party Fundraiser every year at the Duke Mansion. We return every year because it's is so beautiful with gorgeous gardens! It is a great central location, the food is fabulous, the space is perfect and all the people working there are so accommodating! Each year we have had the most flexible service personnel to help us all throughout the event. Darrieus Walker always goes above and beyond to help make the Tea a success and is so personable with all my guests!! Darrieus should be commended for his positive customer service focused attitude. We will see you again next year!
The Duke Mansion has a gorgeous outdoor setting and picturesque rooms, but the best part is actually the staff. Darius went above and beyond to help set up and manage a baby shower a family member recently had at the venue. He was friendly, flexible and very attentive. He was willing to switch table settings and made sure we had everything we needed, including a steamer and step stool to set up. He was wonderful to work with and helped make last minute changes run smoothly. Many thanks to Darius and the rest of the staff!
Great experience at the Duke Mansion. The rooms were warm and comfortable, and we slept very well. The halls were quiet, which made for a very restful stay. Darrieus was the highlight of our experience—energetic, friendly, and he provided excellent customer service. In contrast, the front desk staff were not unpleasant, but their approach felt a bit cold and the overall customer experience there was lacking. The included breakfast was a nice bonus and very good. Grounds were very nice with parking included.
We had a brief one night stay at Duke Mansion and it was absolutely lovely! The staff we friendly and accommodating: The woman at the concierge desk was so fun to chat with and we are incredibly grateful for the allergy safe breakfast the wait staff prepped for us the next morning. Thank you to all the staff! Our room felt insulated and cozy, with a window looking out into lush green trees. There is a quiet upper lobby area to get water or tea and it looks out over the back garden. Our party found a screened in porch on the upper level where we could sit and enjoy the night air and all the sounds. It was so peaceful. The mansion itself is incredibly beautiful. It's a treat to see such a historic building, and the gardens were refreshing and very pretty. We wandered through them the next morning to take in all the green and peek into the little nooks and crannies. Everything is maintained so wonderfully and it really feels like a special place. I would absolutely stay at the Duke again!
I stumbled across Duke Mansion while searching for the perfect place to propose to my now fiancée. I feel incredibly blessed that I did. We stayed there two nights. I am particular at baseline, so for our engagement, I was extremely detail oriented and particular. The staff were so accommodating and helped me plan the details to exactly what I wanted. I proposed to my fiancée in the rear gardens and added on the picnic package in the front gardens for us to enjoy after the proposal. The picnic options were amazing, it came with a beautiful charcuterie, wine, juice and fresh fruit. Duke Mansion itself is a beautiful building and the grounds/gardens are stunning and so well kept. The rooms are clean, quaint and comfortable. Every staff member we encountered was kind and helpful. The breakfast was to die for. The service in the dining room was prompt and personable. The room service option for breakfast was a wonderful option for our second morning there. The room service came hot and equally as delicious as it was in the dining room the morning prior. Their biscuits and gravy were the best I have ever had… I had it both mornings. I cannot thank the staff at Duke Mansion enough for making our time there for our engagement so perfect. The Duke Mansion and its people hold a special place in our hearts and we cannot wait to return in the years to come??
My mother, my daughter, and I attended a high tea lunch today and were unfortunately not impressed. Each table seated ten guests, and while seating arrangements are not the establishment’s fault, the group we were placed with was rude and unwelcoming, which greatly impacted the experience. The tea sandwiches were stale and appeared to have been made the day before. Tea service consisted of servers coming around with hot water, with only two tea bag options available to place in our cups, which felt underwhelming for a high tea experience. The only highlight of our visit was the staff—our servers were attentive and courteous. However, given the price point, I would not recommend returning, especially without the option of a private table for one’s own party.
Beautiful location and building. The staff was very courteous and helpful. It was so fun to stay in a piece of history. I did hit my head on one of the hobbit sized doors (twice, as apparently I can't learn my lesson) in our room, but my wife and I had a great time regardless. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a unique and historical stay with friendly staff.
Spent 2 days of Fall Break here with the family and it was a fantastic experience. What a cool historic home and the rooms are massive compared to hotel rooms. Service is outstanding as well and the breakfast is top notch. This isn’t your typical underwhelming“continental breakfast” and Darrieus, Crystal and Ava made the experience even more exceptional. Will for sure be back on future trips to Charlotte!
