The Sheraton Charlotte Hotel receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising exceptional service and a convenient location, while others express significant concerns about dated rooms, maintenance issues, and security concerns regarding the parking lot. Recent reviews highlight inconsistent service standards and operational challenges.
I want here for my annual church conference. The ballroom had no air. They brought in fans that did absolutely nothing. Out of 4 elevators, only 1 or 2 were working every day. It too 30-35 minutes to catch an elevator. And when the service elevator was down, we had to share with the employees, who had cats and things of that nature. Most days the ice machine wasn't working. They took my washcloths but never left me any new ones. I requested some from the front desk and never received those either. We were told the restaurant would be open until midnight and on Friday when I really needed food, they closed at 1130. This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had at any hotel, regardless of name.
This place is unacceptable for a Marriott property. It is an older hotel and some renovation has been done, but the workmanship was poor. Cleanliness of the rooms and public spaces could have been better. Only 2 of 4 elevators were working during our weekend stay; to me, this is an issue that techs should have been hired to fix with all elevators pronto. We stayed at the Fairfield on the same road up the street last year, and it is much spiffier and cleaner despite being a lower-grade hotel. I've stayed in lots of hotels and will not be returning to this one. It needs more renovation and obviously better management. Marriott, do better.
Winter at the front desk was nothing short of incredible. Her professionalism, and genuine care turned our time in Charlotte into an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel welcomed and valued. The hotel itself was spotless, the rooftop was absolutely stunning, and the food exceeded every expectation, it was genuinely impressive. We’re truly grateful for the level of service we received. Experiences like this are rare, and because of it, we will absolutely be back. Thank you for setting such a high standard for hospitality.
We had a great view. Only had one night to enjoy. We fully took in the experience. The services was top notch. Staff were friendly. Room was spacious. Clean. The bed felt better than my own.
I just checked out of the hotel this morning. I honestly didn’t expect anything less than incredible from this particular brand. I stayed at the Sheraton because I went to the NE concert and I wanted to find a hotel that was close and affordable. When I entered the lobby it was giving a very particular vibe. Almost like everyone there was there for a good time and life was great. There was no questionable vibes. I met quite a few people that were absolutely great. From the staff to the other guest that were staying. I have no complaints about my room (302). It faced the street so there was a nice view of downtown. The room was spacious and comfortable. Heat worked perfectly. Water was hot. The water was so hot, if you wanted cold, you had to let it run and turn cold. Which I had never seen before. I was actually impressed. Everything was easy I will be back.
I work for a major sports entertainment company and a large amount of us stay at this hotel often. Many of our crew members travel with expense gear for our show. That is about to change. As far as the rooms and the accommodations, the food and the restaurant servers, that’ was fine, No complaints there…But under no circumstance do not bring your vehicle to their property! Their parking lot is unsafe and your car is almost guaranteed to be broken into according to the local police. The security guard spends more time in the hotel than outside watching the property. You would expect a little more Security paying $25 a night to park in their lot but that is not the case. I understand That happens everywhere and the establishments cannot be held responsible for theft on their property. But with 5 to 6 automobile break-ins the week prior, hotel guests should’ve been told and warned of the high risk parking situation at check-in. I elevated this to the hotel manager who promised to get back to me and never heard a word from him either. Not the best way to treat your hotel guest especially with high status.
Sheraton Charlotte Hotel, February 2026 Good: Service at the bar/restaurant was very good. The doorman/valet was friendly. Bad: Parking lot is confusing and not explained, resulting in double charge for parking - once on my bill and then at the parking gate because the room key sensor on the entrance gate is broken. Note: this almost seems like a scam. Mariott management should investigate this. Bad: The rooms are tiny. Not enough room for a true closet. The bathroom is very cramped. Bad: I, and other customers, had room keys that didn't work, resulting in a trip back downstairs to get them fixed. Bad: Reported issues with non-functioning exhaust fan in the bathroom. Engineering came up, looked at it and mumbled something and left. It was never addressed during my entire stay. Good: Elevators are fast. I usually waited less than a minute. Overall: Price for hotel and parking is out of line for what you're getting. The parking situation is deceptive and should be addressed.
While the location is good for a quick stay and the lobby area is nice and modern, the rest of the hotel is lacking updates, especially the rooms. I had no overall issues with the room other than the noise issues and my first room not being cleaned. Hate to go back to the desk and get a new room. The other I had was the house cleaning happening at 8:30am next to my room. Slamming doors, loud music/tv on. Loud talking, banging on the walls, I’m assuming moving furniture to clean. No concern for people sleeping or relaxing. I had a late checkout for a reason, I needed the morning to rest up for a long night. Very disappointing for a Marriott branded hotel. Just not a fully enjoyable stay and unfortunately, I will not be returning to that hotel nor can I recommend it until this hotel.
I was greeted by valet. Parking is $25/night. I felt safe. My room didn't have a view so I was disappointed. The room was decent. I felt safe. I asked for a bathrobe and it took over a hour to arrive. The hotel was in a good location where I didnt have to drive super far.
I am writing as a long-time Marriott Tritium member who has watched this brand steadily decline over the past two decades. I travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, and Marriott was once my default choice because of consistency, service standards, and respect for elite loyalty. That consistency is no longer there, and my most recent stay in Charlotte made that painfully obvious. I recently stayed at the Sheraton Downtown Charlotte, and that property reminded me of what Marriott used to stand for. The staff was outstanding and genuinely helpful. The club lounge was open every morning and offered a proper happy hour with complimentary beer and wine every afternoon, seven days a week, even through it was the holidays. That level of service felt professional, welcoming, and aligned with elite expectations. The contrast became unacceptable when I transferred to the Sheraton near the airport for an early morning flight. That property is in very poor condition. My room was dark with inadequate lighting, and there was not a single usable outlet at the desk for a laptop, phone, or tablet. These are basic business traveler needs, not luxury requests. The club lounge was locked, and I was told it was closed for the holidays. When I pushed back, the front desk handed me a drink ticket as a quick way to make the issue go away, which felt dismissive rather than service-oriented. The situation got worse when I went to the bar and restaurant, only to discover it was closed at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon. The front desk was unaware that there was no staff scheduled to cover the bar, which meant the drink tickets I was given were useless. There are no restaurants or bars within walking distance, leaving guests with no reasonable options. This is not a minor inconvenience. It reflects a complete breakdown in operational planning and communication. The larger issue is that Marriott has clearly lost control of its franchises. Properties appear to operate however they choose, with no accountability and no consistency from one hotel to the next, even under the same brand name. As an elite member, I should not have to guess what level of service I am going to receive when I check in. At this point, the Marriott name no longer guarantees anything. I have been loyal for years, but loyalty only works when it is mutual. Right now, it feels like elite members are taken for granted. If this lack of consistency and oversight continues, I will seriously reconsider my future stays and shift my business to another hotel company that still values standards, accountability, and long-term loyalty. I hope someone at Marriott is paying attention, because experiences like this are exactly why longtime members walk away.
