The Ivey's Hotel offers a highly praised blend of historic elegance and modern luxury in the heart of uptown Charlotte, featuring stylish rooms and standout cocktails. However, the guest experience is currently inconsistent due to reported issues with room maintenance, noise levels, and occasional unprofessional front desk interactions.
I’ve stayed at and dined in hotels all over the Northeast, and I can say without hesitation that Anthony at Ivy’s Hotel sets a new standard for hospitality. Anthony is not just a bartender — he is a professional who operates with an exceptional level of precision, awareness, and pride in his craft. His attention to detail rivals that of an emergency room administrator: calm under pressure, anticipatory, and fully in control of his environment. Whether you’re seated at the bar or dining in the restaurant, he remains completely in tune with his guests and their needs without ever being intrusive. What truly separates Anthony is his ability to manage multiple guests seamlessly while making each person feel individually cared for. His knowledge, timing, and situational awareness are outstanding, and it’s clear he takes his role seriously and performs it with genuine pride. Hospitality like this is rare. Anthony doesn’t just enhance the Ivy’s experience — he defines it. If every establishment had someone like him, the industry would be in a much better place.
We absolutely loved our stay for our wedding day ! The room was spotless, very comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff was friendly! A special thank you to Teresa at check-in; she was incredibly warm :) Her attitude really set the tone for our stay? We felt very well taken care of and would definitely love to come back.
Lovely hotel and well appointed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our room had a modern bathroom with deep soaking tub. The themeing for Christmas was lovely as well. Very Instagram-y if that's your thing!
?My brother-in-law recently hosted a private birthday event at The Ivey’s. Despite the high spend on the party, the night ended in an appalling display of poor hospitality. ?Following the event, our "leftover" group of six headed to the restaurant/bar downstairs nearly three hours before closing. We had been assured by the private bartender that the bar was open. Instead, we were immediately intercepted by security at the bottom of the steps and told we "had to go." ?It was insulting and handled with zero professionalism. My brother-in-law, a registered guest, had to repeatedly and firmly demand to speak with an actual staff member just to get a true idea of the situation. We were eventually told they were "short-staffed" and refused service. They wouldn't even let us sit down. ?Using security to block paying guests from basic amenities is unacceptable. Being treated like a trespasser at a hotel where (assuming) he had just made a large financial investment is massive failure in service and communication. ?To go from a high-end private event to being 'guarded' out of the building was a jarring and disappointing end to what should have been a celebratory night.
We has a great stay here. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Josh at the reception desk was very helpful with our stay. The art deco vibe and decorations are incredible. The one star reviews are obviously people who didn't look at the website where there's a disclaimer that there is city noise, because guess what, it's in the city! If you're a light sleeper then bring a sleep mask and ear plugs like I did or get an interior room.
My husband reserved us a room for a couple of nights stay at "The Ivey's Hotel" for my birthday and this hotel is absolutely gorgeous! The interior design of the entire hotel is a mix of modern and vintage decor. The suite was so beautiful...it was spacious and wonderfully appointed (too much to describe here in my review). The service was top tier...very professional and attentive. We also liked that the hotel was in walking distance to shopping, the Belk theater and other restaurants if you choose to venture outside of the hotel for some of your meals. We are already planning our next stay!
My stay at The Ivey’s Hotel in Charlotte was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The moment I walked into the lobby, I was struck by the hotel’s elegant design — a perfect blend of historic charm and modern sophistication. The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive, making me feel like a valued guest right away. My room was stunning: spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated with thoughtful details that made all the difference. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, the bathroom luxurious, and I loved the high-end touches like the Nespresso machine and plush robes. The Library Lounge was one of my favorite spots — a cozy, quiet retreat where I enjoyed complimentary breakfast in the morning and a relaxing glass of wine in the evening. The hotel’s location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of uptown Charlotte, just steps away from great restaurants, shops, and attractions. Every interaction with the staff felt genuine — they clearly take pride in providing an exceptional guest experience. It’s rare to find a hotel that combines such personalized service with boutique luxury, but The Ivey’s does it effortlessly. I can’t recommend The Ivey’s Hotel highly enough. Whether you’re visiting Charlotte for business or leisure, this is the place to stay. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
On March 23rd, my family and I stayed one night at The Ivey’s Hotel. Upon arrival we were very happy with the service and how beautiful the hotel was. Everything was very clean and we were happy to be there. During the night I was woken by a loud, clanging pipe noise and then the running of our toilet. It happened over and over throughout the night, which evidently left me with little sleep. In the morning I went into the restroom to check out the situation and I could see a brown line in the toilet from the running water, so I knew this is not a new issue. This means that the hotel put us in that room when they were aware of the broken toilet. Then when my family checked out, they informed us that the valet was not there and we would have to take the employee elevator down to the garage. Once the employee put us in the elevator, we couldn’t get out. The elevator would move between floors but it would not open. I was stuck on the elevator with my husband and two young children. Eventually the doors opened back to the main floor. The employee then informed us that we needed her key card which is why we got stuck. Once again, a situation that could have been prevented. After a nine hour drive we reached home but realized my son left his stuffed animal dog at the hotel. I called and left a message telling them about the situation and asking for them to return my call. I understand that this is just a toy, but they never called me back. I left a review on Trip Advisory about this experience. The hotel replied to my review and stated that the situation had been taken care of and that I found the dog. This reply from the hotel is not true at all. I never found the dog. I called the hotel and spoke to Josh and asked him to have this reply removed since it wasn’t true. Josh said he would have it taken down or corrected, he would check on the dog and call me back. That was four days ago and I’m still waiting for the false information to be removed and for Josh to return my phone call.
Our room was above the lobby and we heard the doors opening and closing all night. The hotel itself is very cool and retro with an amazing convenient location downtown Charlotte. The parking however, is not free. It cost $45 a night top shelf liquors in the bar and you get a free wine or champagne upon arrival.
I've stayed at the Ivey's many times and have always enjoyed my visits. I stayed 3 nights this week. The room was perfect as usual. The housekeeping staff and valet staff were wonderful. I ate breakfast at Sophie's every morning and the food was amazing and the staff was superb. The bartenders in the library and Sophie's were lovely. However, due to the unprofessional and rude front desk member, I will not return. I usually assume if someone is rude once, they may just be having a bad day, but if it is a repeated pattern over the course of multiple encounters - it's a problem. I even tried to extend my stay and was told by this member of your staff (twice) that I couldn't stay an additional night. Luckily, the front desk member who replaced her in the morning was far more accommodating and I was able to stay. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I will switch my business back to the Bohemian when I return to uptown.
