Guests praise the exceptional rooftop bar and restaurant views, as well as the spacious rooms and prime downtown location. However, the hotel receives significant criticism for inconvenient valet-only parking, confusing navigation, and inconsistency in staff courtesy.
The location was great, and it was definitely convenient having a rooftop bar right at the hotel. Unfortunately, that’s about where the positives end for me, which is why I’m giving this stay 2 stars. The staff experience was very disappointing. The man working the night shift was extremely rude to us when we returned to the hotel, which immediately left a bad impression. After we checked out, we called to see if we had accidentally left something behind and were once again met with a rude staff member. To make matters worse, I still have not received my $75 deposit back. Overall, the poor customer service completely outweighed the good location. In my opinion, it just isn’t worth it — I would recommend staying elsewhere.
The price was amazing, the staff were nice. That’s about as good as it got. I could hear endless traffic noise at all times. Pretty sure the guy next to me had untreated COPD or was suffering from the plague because his endless coughing coupled with wildly thin walls echoed those coughed throughout the room my whole stay. Theres a lot next to the hotel. $31 a day compared to the valet costs plus tips. It is in a great location and you must have a card key to get to the floor which adds to the good security/safety feeling.
Nice spacious room. But who decided it would be a good idea and not put a microwave in the room ruined it for me. This is VERY inconvenient. I travel for work and bring quick meals to heat up in the microwave. Now I can't get completely comfortable after getting on in the mornings because I have to go up to my room and grab my food, come back downstairs to hear it up, and then go back up ?
During snowmageddon my husband and I stopped in Charlotte on our way from Pittsburgh to Florida. What a wonderful stop! The rooms were great as was the price. Great breakfast included. Staff was super nice and helpful. We especially enjoyed Sam who valeted our car. Unsolicitedly, he helped me pack my car which was a relief to me. Nice to see such nice manners in a young man.
Pro: good location, decent breakfast Cons: hard to find, expensive parking. I checked in a 8pm, solo parenting with 2 toddlers. Valet didn’t direct me to the luggage carts so I hauled everything on our stroller or carried it. Terrible customer service. My 17mon old son got locked in the bathroom. I tried calling the front desk multiple times. I finally called the hotel number listed online and reach the manager. She was worthless and offered no help. Fortunately I was able to pick the lock and didn’t have to call the fire department. No one came to help or followed up with a call.
The location is excellent, as everything is within walking distance. The staff is very amicable. The room was clean. The 12p check out is great! The breakfast was good and had everything you'd expect from a Continental breakfast. Many reviewers mentioned the entrance hard to find, but we felt it was clearly labeled and found it immediately. The signs are well-lit at night. Reviews also mentioned it being unsafe to walk next to the cars, but we were in and out and there's a sidewalk for pedestrians that lead out to the street. You do have to cross where the valet cars are coming out, but there's a clear indication and I'm our experience, there was rarely a car at the time we crossed. We deducted a star because of the inability to self-park. They only allow valet. which is $42 a night; however, we always do our research prior, and simply parked at the LAZ Mecklenberg Government Center for $15 all day (located on the adjacent corner, just steps away). We read that other reviews mentioned this and we planned ahead. Everything worked out great and we paid $45 for 3 days instead of the $43/night+ tip. Other than the parking, we would most certainly consider this hotel when in Charlotte again. We attended a Hornets game and it was a 4 minute walk, as with the Midnight Diner. We walked everywhere, including the Optimist. We felt safe everywhere in a family group, but I don't think I'd feel the same walking alone as a woman. There are a few homeless tents and homeless people about, as you find in all US metro cities. Note: the rooftop restaurant, Farenheit, is unaffiliated with Hyatt and require a "sophisticated business" attire. You access it from G level on the other elevator. To check in, from G, you'll take the elevator to 10. The Hyatt lobby, bar, breakfast area, gym, etc. are located here.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Place Uptown Charlotte. The room was clean and comfortable and seemed to be recently renovated. The staff was pleasant and helpful, the breakfast each morning was delicious and the location was great, convenient to all the area has to offer. And to top it all off was the rooftop restaurant/bar where we enjoyed a nightcap while taking in the beautiful views of downtown at night.
Great location for attending a conference at another nearby hotel. Despite other reviews, we had no issue finding the hotel! Even arriving after dark, there is a large sign of where to pull in. Valet only parking - you text them before heading down to retrieve the car and are very quick. Guestrooms are large, a little dated but very clean and a beautiful view of the city.
Super hard to get in and out. Forced valet parking unless u want to drive a mile to a public parking deck. It cost $ 43 per night for the valet and overnight parking.plus they want to make u tip online. The rooms were ok but definitely not special at all. The elevator was out 1/2 of our stay ( we were on the top floor so we did get cardio. U can walk to most things .. so a plus And the breakfast is good .. so another plus
Staying at the Hyatt was perfect. The room was spacious and clean. The location was perfect for getting anywhere quickly and the views were stunning. The morning valet person, Rob, was wonderful. He was always friendly and anticipated when we would need the vehicle. He made the valet experience very personal and joyful.
