This property has seen a sharp decline in physical condition and service quality over the last year, despite delivering positive experiences previously. While guests often praise the quiet location and comfortable beds, many express deep concern for safety, cleanliness issues, and the necessity for immediate renovation.
Unfortunately the staff here cannot be trusted, we realized that when they nosily inquired into our business after checking in. We had packages sent there with proof of delivery, and they were signed for with a fake name. Management stonewalled us with various excuses (maybe it got delivered next door even though we'd already checked there too, etc.), and when a decision was made to contact the local authorities to try getting access to security footage, the packages instantly and suspiciously appeared. Though they 'fessed up to some degree (and notified us in a more timely manner about a later delivery), we don't believe we would've gotten the same outcome had we not persisted as we did. Caveat emptor, be vigilant if you are a guest at this Sonesta and you value your belongings. P.S. The elevator carpet had an unpleasant smell as well.
I didnt enjoy my stay at this location. The check in process was easy, everyone was friendly, but it all went downhill from there. The majority of the hotel hasn't been well taken care of. The hallway carpet was stained and old, and it also had a foul odor, not just from the smell of Marijuana, that I kept smelling my entire stay. The interior of the room also had an unpleasant odor. The room could also use some updating, at least some fresh paint. The TV had the worst reception I've ever seen, most of the channels had a layer of static, the ones that weren't still had an appearance of a antenna tv. The mini fridge didn't really work either. The shower also had poor water pressure. Some positive notes are the air conditioning worked well, but was very loud. The noise in the hotel was minimal, this was impressive considering the area is surrounded by highways and the homeless. If you can afford to go anywhere else, please do so.
I checked in around 3pm and by 5:20pm (same day), I checked out. This hotel is disgusting. The carpets are filthy, the pool which I was told was open, isn't, the TV didn't work and they had no one to assist (let alone no one answered the phone when I called for assistance). The sofa in my room had burn marks in it and the amount of dirt and dust behind the TV was foul, not to mention the phone had a layer of crud on it when I picked it up to call housekeeping (they didn't answer). There was a smell about the place-like overly perfumed covering something up. The elevator was rickety and overall-I didn't feel safe or comfortable there. When I checked in, there was no information given about the area or hotel-I was just handed a room key.
We go on roadtrips quite often and are always on the lookout for good hotels to stop at. This hotel fit the bill. The price was affordable, its accessible from the highway, great dining options, plenty of parking spaces. The clerk at the front desk was real friendly, the hotel is cleaned and appeared to be well-maintained. Good room and comfy bed. They weren't serving coffee or food at the time but hopefully they would do it in the future. Overall, I added this hotel to the list of potential stops!
TL;DR: Dirty sheets with stains and hair, no room change, and I had to make my own bed at 1 a.m. Avoid this hotel. The bed sheets were visibly dirty, with large yellow sweat stains and even body hair. When I reported this, the staff refused to change my room and instead gave me a set of bedding and asked me to make the bed myself. What was even more frustrating was that the staff seemed poorly trained. She repeatedly gave me the wrong sizes or incomplete bedding sets. After several attempts, the situation became almost impossible to fix. At that point, she offered a full refund and immediate check-out—but this was at 1 a.m.!!! It felt like this solution took advantage of the fact that I was exhausted and unlikely to find alternative accommodation at that hour. After going up and down multiple times carrying bedding, I eventually patched together a makeshift sleeping area with sheets and blankets that didn’t fit. This was a two-night stay. I asked the front desk to have the bed properly cleaned the next day, but when I returned that night, nothing had been changed or cleaned. If you expect basic cleanliness and competent service, especially late at night, I would recommend avoiding this hotel.
This hotel is VERY dog eared and the public areas (halls, walkways, breakfast room) are worn and drab. The room was comfortable but the carpet was very dirty. The "continental breakfast" amounts to packaged grits, strawberry instant oatmeal, bagels (but no butter or cream cheese), honeybuns,no juice, no hot items, no juice. One elevator out of order. Light in the bathroom not working. Staff was friendly, but I would not stay again
Read carefully before booking. I thought I was booking the Sonesta with the in and outdoor pools and restaurant located inside. This place had no hot water at first, but then started working. The rooms weren’t too bad, but you can tell there’s some sketchy stuff going on maybe in or around there.
I only give it 4 stars because there isn't any real breakfast offered. There are packages of muffins and bagels. Room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable.
I will generously provide 2 stars because the bed was very comfortable. However, what hotel charges a deposit when you have no pets? That was weird. Plus there is no continental breakfast. Which is just dumb! They also have two elevators and the one closest to the front only goes down so you have to walk to the rear of the hotel to get to an elevator that goes up just to walk back to the front of the hotel where your room is located. This is a royal pain when you are pulling bags. Now in our room it was oddly set up. The TV loses signal a lot but when it works if you like sports and news then you will be good to go. However, theres only one cartoon station, nickelodeon, because the cartoon network is just a black screen and no sound. Now BET has sound but no picture. And on the two HBO channels you have the same movies are played on repeat. The room we stayed in had a small balcony which was very nice however it’s old as it was a pain to open the door due to tracks being messed up. Again the bed was the only thing I can give positive remarks on. This hotel is in desperate need of renovation.
Nice and clean rooms. Any staff we encountered were sweet and helpful. Hallway carpets need a good cleaning, an outlet in the room didn't work, there was a burn in the desk chair, and grab-n-go breakfast was a tad pricey and not so convenient... but overall, the hotel served it's purpose- a clean and safe place to lay our heads when we needed it!
