This Sonesta location offers most contemporary amenities with a spacious layout and clean facilities, though recent guests report inconsistent housekeeping and occasional front desk issues. The building's age is noted, along with challenges regarding parking fees and room maintenance.
Decent remodel but building has some age. Really appreciated the indoor pool and weight room! Dog friendly here as well... worried me a bit when I realized this checking in. But rooms were above average for cleanliness, no smell or stains so (4 of 5).
We checked in and the Guest Services Manager was very nice and welcoming. However, our room was underwhelming. The chairs and carpet were dirty, and the shower was not the cleanest either. We stayed there March 3rd to March 5th 2026. After being out all day, no one cleaned our room, and we did not receive fresh towels. We had to go downstairs to request them ourselves. Also, before our checkout time of 11 a.m., room service was knocking on the door around 9 a.m., which felt a bit early while we were still preparing to leave. We are Bronze members of the Sonesta and have had a much better experience at the Hilton in Hilton Head compared to our stay in Charlotte. Overall, the staff we interacted with were kind, but the cleanliness and room service experience did not meet our expectations.
I've stayed at this hotel three times now within the last couple of months as a halfway point to see my grandfather who is passing from pancreatic cancer. The first stay, the older black woman who was working the desk was incredibly rude. I chose this hotel last minute as the trip was made immediately after a work day due to unforseen circumstances. I tried explaining i had tried booking online to use points to pay for the room but that it wasn't working due to it being past midnight. She was very unpleasant the entire time. She had an attitude from the moment i walked up to the desk and was unhelpful. I ended up having to pay for the room out of pocket with money i didn't have at the time. The second stay, the younger black woman that was working the desk was extremely kind. I did get charged $130 for "incidentals" that eventually fell off my card. This was the only time i was charged this fee checking in for some reason. My final stay was saturday night. The younger black woman with glasses working the desk was also super friendly and kind but seemed maybe confused. I was not charged the incidental fee this time, but i was charged for parking after explaining i had already paid for parking outside. There are signs everywhere saying to pay for parking, but then you go inside and it is added once again into your room fee. Not entirely sure why it is something different every single stay. The rooms are nice but the inconsistency is extremely frustrating.
Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, bathrooms are clean. Restaurant/bar is clean as well with a great atmosphere. The menu is actually very good, cocktail menu is creative and tasteful, not cliche. The management as well as the staff are extremely nice and get to know you by name and in my case, my dog’s name also. Henrick, Brittany, Pete, Elisha, Brandy, Sharon are my favorites. Oh and Can’t forget James and Franklin! Location is very convenient for me for my work trips as I’m in Charlotte almost every week. I could go to other places, but because of what I stated above, these are my reasons why I keep coming back. Much love. -Louie
So the desk staff was super nice and accommodating when asked for a private meeting room for an event. The Lobby, bar and event area was beautiful. Thats where it ends. The rooms had a nice clean bed ( we had 4 rooms total) but the carpets were stained and torn and the dirty towels were left in our bathroom, so we had ro get our own at the desk. The sofa was stained to where I wouldnt put my bags on it. We asked for vacuuming but it never happened. One room had a dog and I was hesitant to have my dog on the floor. Again, the staff was very nice. But cleanliness and comfort matter more to me. Kudos to Brandi though.
We stayed one night after missing our connection. The double queen room was spacious and quiet. Beds are really comfortable. The heating/cooling unit is rather obnoxious but it wasn't running much of the time. Staff is really friendly. Shuttle is convenient. Decent breakfast options. Large lobby with lots of chairs and couches which we enjoyed while waiting for our connection.
We stayed in a standard two-bed room and found it spacious with very comfortable beds. The pool looked nice, but the water was freezing so we skipped swimming. Our toilet ran throughout the night, but it wasn’t enough to be a major issue. There was plenty of parking, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was available, but at $22 per person we chose to pass. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.
Very nice hotel and a great location. I would give it a nine out of 10 for cleanliness; they needed to scrub the walls in the rooms a little better. It is pet friendly and has no weight restrictions. They welcomed our full-size German Shepherd with no problem. Very accommodating staff. The pool was extremely cold. We will definitely stay at this hotel again though. Very nice Bard restaurant in the hotel with reasonable prices limited selection of food, but it’s good. Starbucks in the hotel also is a plus.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. I stayed at this hotel for a competition with my wife and daughter, and honestly, I’m still irritated thinking about it. The front desk lady had an attitude the second we walked in — completely unnecessary. My daughter’s entire cheer team got split up because the front desk lady somehow gave their rooms away and then tried to send them to a hotel in SOUTH CAROLINA. If they didn’t leave she threatened to call the cops on them. Who does that? We finally get to our room, and at first it looks clean… but the second I lifted the sheets, this strong pee smell hit me. Absolutely disgusting. And on top of that? Bed bugs. Orange ladybugs crawling around. My daughter ended up with bites. Not okay. Breakfast was a disaster too — the eggs tasted like plastic, and the sausage didn’t even look cooked. I figured maybe it was just a rough first day, so I took my daughter to the pool… only to find it foggy, humid, and honestly just gross. And don’t even get me started on the parking. They advertise “free parking” everywhere, but somehow we still ended up getting charged a fee. Nobody mentioned it, nobody explained it — just a random charge slapped on like we wouldn’t notice. At that point I was honestly done with the place.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Sonesta. Tyra at the front desk was amazing. She helped with every request I made, and I made quite a few. She was proactive, kind, and handled everything professionally with a smile. The hotel is older, but it’s clean and well cared for. I didn’t have any issues with housekeeping, cleanliness, or pests as other reviews mentioned. Housekeeping was also very nice and quick to bring anything I needed. The lobby is welcoming, and while the pool was a little too cool to use, I liked the indoor and outdoor setup. The location worked perfectly for me and was only about 15–20 minutes from the airport and the places I wanted to visit. Overall, a great stay and I’d definitely come back.
