The DoubleTree by Hilton Charlotte City Center offers a convenient location downtown, often praised for its proximity to entertainment venues and dining. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent experiences, including issues with room cleanliness, unexpected fees, noise levels, and operational problems such as malfunctioning amenities and staff responsiveness. While some guests appreciate the warm cookie welcome and helpful staff, others express disappointment with value and overall service.
I stayed at this hotel while attending a concert and had a mixed experience. When my concert was rescheduled after I originally booked in February, the staff was very helpful and accommodating in adjusting my reservation. I truly appreciated that. Unfortunately, several issues arose during our stay. When I added a second room for my mother, younger sister, and her friend, we were under the impression that the hotel had a pool because it was featured in the photos. Upon arrival, we discovered there was no pool available. We were also surprised by additional fees that were not clearly disclosed during the booking process. At check-in, we were told our rooms were connected. However, the adjoining door would not work with the key card. My mother had to return to the front desk, and we were ultimately moved to a different room. What was confusing is that a technician was sent to repair the original room, leaving us wondering why we couldn’t simply stay there once it was fixed. The hotel felt more geared toward an upscale adult crowd than families. If you are traveling with children, this may not be the best fit. Between the lack of family-friendly amenities and the unexpected fees, I was disappointed with the overall experience. The biggest positive was the location, which was within walking distance of the concert venue. While the staff was helpful in some situations, the issues we encountered would make me think twice before staying here again.
Hotel is in a quiet area of the city, with nice grounds and pool. Room was clean and bed was comfortable and greated warmly by Front desk with freshly baked choc chip cookies. Breakfast was ok. Close to airport, and shuttle service to and from provided. I would stay here again! If you are a Hilton Honors member the rate is reasonable.
Great Stay in the Heart of Uptown Highly recommend! I stayed at the DoubleTree on North College Street for a weekend trip and couldn't have been happier. The location is unbeatable—literally steps away from the Spectrum Center and surrounded by great restaurants. The staff was incredibly welcoming from the moment we arrived. ? Pros: The room was very clean and modern, and the signature warm cookie at check-in is a great touch! The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. ? Cons: As with any downtown hotel, you might hear some street noise, but it wasn't enough to disturb us, and the location is worth it. ? Tips: Definitely check out the on-site dining/bar, and use the valet if you are parking. ? Overall, a great experience. I’ll definitely be back next time I'm in Charlotte!
I dined at the hotel restaurant and Lauren made a huge difference! She was incredibly helpful and welcoming from start to finish. Definitely one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had. The food was delicious. Our server, Miranda was fast & efficient. I will definitely be coming back!
In the beginning of February, two of my girlfriends and I were in town for a wedding. Before we even arrived we were notified that we had an upgrade to our room; that was a nice surprise! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by JJ at the front desk. We were instantly welcomed and knew that we were in good hands. I wish I could remember all of the names of the staff because each person that we met went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We requested extra towels, water, and even wine; and we were always taken care of immediately. We were very impressed with our breakfast server, Bobby! Although we only ordered oatmeal and wheat toast; the way he presented it to us was worth mentioning. The unique oatmeal bowl and cute little pitcher of warm milk added such a wonderful touch to our experience. He even gave us a little dish with balls of butter instead of giving us the ice cold butter packets that come out of the fridge! We also enjoyed the fitness center. It was clean and had everything we needed for a nice workout every day that we were there. I truly cannot say enough about JJ and his staff! If you’re looking for a nice place to stay in Charlotte, NC. I highly recommend The DoubleTree by Hilton Charlotte City Center.
The location is good when you need to be downtown but due to the one-way streets. It’s a bit difficult to get there and parking is very challenging but the hotel itself was very nice super clean. The room was nice. I was on the sixth floor service was excellent.
My husband and I recently enjoyed a Valentine's getaway at your hotel, marking our second stay, and I wanted to share some feedback about our experience. Firstly, we truly appreciate the great location of the hotel and the amenities. It was wonderful to have many attractions within walking distance, which allowed us to enjoy the city fully. However, I am disappointed to report that we encountered issues with the valet service during our visit. This is the second time we experienced unprofessional behavior from the valet staff. They seemed to overlook the fact that not every guest opts for valet parking, as we had planned to stroll and enjoy our surroundings. Unfortunately, once they realized we would not be utilizing their services, we were treated poorly and rushed. This treatment is quite bothersome, especially as Hilton Diamond members who have always appreciated the Hilton experience. I am now left contemplating whether we will choose to stay at this hotel again in the future, given this negative interaction. I hope you take this feedback seriously, as it can significantly impact guests' overall experiences. Thank you for taking the time to address this matter!
We have consistently used this hotel for team meetings whenever we are in Charlotte, but unfortunately this experience has ensured it will be our last time. My room was booked through my employer. Due to an unexpected emergency, I needed to cancel my reservation the day prior to arrival. I called the hotel in advance to confirm whether cancellationand refund was possible. Initially, I was told I might be entitled to a partial refund and was placed on hold. When the representative returned, she informed me that I was entitled to a full refund and that a receipt would be sent to me. However, I later discovered that I was charged the full amount for the room. When I called to follow up, I was told that because there were no notes in the system documenting the prior conversation, I was not entitled to any refund. Even Shana(the new representative) rushed me off the phone. She places me on hold as soon as she heard me mention a partial refund. She didn't stay on the call long enough to hear the second part of the story related to my initial camcellation phone call nor did I grt a chance to let her know that the young lady I spoke with had a spanish accent. Given the amount of business our company brings to this hotel over multiple days and multiple bookings, I am extremely disappointed by the lack of understanding and accountability—especially when emergencies arise that are completely out of a guest’s control. This experience demonstrated a lack of customer care and professionalism. For a hotel that relies on repeat corporate business, this experience demonstrates a need to better support customers when unexpected emergencies occur and to better document conversations with guests. I am sure that the calls are recorded, my call could've been pulled to corroborate my account, but I guess that would be roo much work for them to do. Do better Hilton.
Good hotel in downtown area close to restaraunts and bars but elevator at parking garage did not work and it was very dangerous to walk through the stairways. The room was nice but wasn't cleaned thoroughly, crumbs were in floor and bed linen was spiked on the corners and pillowcases. I had to call front desk requesting a new room, which they were supposedly full. I dont believe it because there wasn't many people moving around in and out of the hotel. Few people were in the bar. Anyways, they came to the room and cleaned it and put fresh bed linens on the bed. Their pillows go flat when you lay your head down so we got 4 extra. Overall they were okay, and the front desk people were very nice and accommadating accommodating.
The accommodations are great. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet for conference calls. That is where it ends. The customer service, particular the front desk sucks. The prevailing aura of indifference and rudeness is not regulated to a specific shift. It floated throughout the staff. There was no drop off in treatment, in that they were equally less detached and more pathetic than the previous and worse than the last. A total lack of concern and a prevailing absence of hospitality, empathy, and friendliness at the front desk set a tone that even the cookies could not soothe. We won't get into being charged for valet service, that required walking up 2 flights of stairs to retrieve my personal vehicle because the valet comes in at a later time. The overall experience affirms the necessity to source other accommodations in the area.
