The Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte Waverly receives generally positive feedback, particularly highlighting its convenient location and friendly staff. However, recent reviews indicate recurring issues with room noise, confusing reservation processes, and inconsistent service standards. While many guests appreciate the amenities and dining options, several have experienced significant problems with room assignments and guest check-out procedures.
Hotel itself was fine and the staff was very nice. However, there was a barking dog in someone's room that was going on all night and we got next to no sleep. I'm sure it's a one-off experience, however, it is something one should think about if staying. Furthermore, the door/walls are paper thin, so people leaving at 2am, coming back from going out, etc. can be very loud inside the room. Location, etc. is nice.
I stayed here for my birthday trip, and it honestly made the whole experience even better. The staff was amazing during check-in, they were welcoming, easy to talk to, and made the interaction feel genuine instead of routine. I also loved the location since I could step outside and relax, and it was close enough to popular spots without feeling crowded or hectic.
I’m extremely disappointed with my recent stay at a Hilton property. While the woman who checked us in was pleasant, the rest of our experience was frustrating and poorly handled. We booked two rooms for our wedding weekend. One for a one night stay and another for two nights. At check in, no one clarified which reservation was tied to which room. As a result, we moved our belongings as we normally would, only to later discover while in the middle of getting ready for a wedding that the room we were transitioning to, was the room that actually needed to be checked out. When we contacted the front desk to explain the confusion (which stemmed from a lack of communication on their end), we were met with little willingness to help. This should have been a simple fix, especially from a hospitality standpoint but instead, we were told the only solution was to pay for an additional night. To make matters worse, when we went to the front desk in person to clarify, the manager on duty didn’t even acknowledge us. She walked away and had another employee return to repeat that nothing could be done. There was no effort to problem solve or show basic courtesy. This left us having to move two days worth of luggage including items for getting ready, personal care products, and belongings for a toddler in the middle of preparing for a wedding. It was unnecessarily stressful and completely avoidable. As a final frustration, we were locked out of our room about 15 minutes before checkout time and had to wait for assistance to regain access. As someone who typically enjoys staying with Hilton, this experience was very disappointing. Based on this visit, I would not return to this location and would recommend looking at other options in the area.
Don’t hesitate to stay here!!!! we initially made reservations at the marriot across the way the staff there was horrendous causing us to leave and try to get a room here at the hilton garden in! from the moment we walked in carrie greeted us with such a big smile and warmth i came out of town to have surgery and they’ve been more than accommodating extra pillows sent to the room for comfort as well as an extra blanket!!! the breakfast here is super affordable and a great portion. rooms are super clean and room turning is on point! i will definitely stay here again
Excellent hotel in a fabulous location. The front desk staff was friendly and informative. The room was clean and it was mostly comfortable. My only complaint was the bed was really soft...actually too soft (personal preference). Some may have had concerns regarding the parking but no problem for my visit. The garage directly behind the hotel had plenty of parking on busy Friday and Saturday nights. One major draw of this hotel is the location. There are several great restaurants and a Whole Food within walking distance. If a sit down place is not your speed there are fast casual places also in walking distance. Great experience and will stay here again.
Great spot - very friendly staff. The front desk, bartender, and housekeeping were all great. Dan and James were very accommodating, and both bar tenders (didn't get their names) were awesome with helping with dinner. Location has a lot around it and is convenient to many places to eat.
Practical luxury at its best—combining simplicity, comfort, charm and a personally relaxing atmosphere all in one. The Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte Waverly felt safe and welcoming, with the added convenience of great dining and shopping just a short walk away.
A comedy of errors at all levels (2 stars): We invited family in for the Thanksgiving holiday and provided for three nights nearby at the Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte. We chose for one of the nights each to apply one free night award (because we met a spending requirement with our Hilton branded Amex); for another night applied our accumulated points from stays; and then pay out of pocket for one night. We had similarly reserved a hotel under Marriott a few months ago and it worked relatively smoothly. This turned out to be a very convoluted process under Hilton as we were required to set up three separate reservations for the three different types of payment methods. The representative at Hilton reservations struggled and had to redo the booking multiple times; it took about 40 minutes and 9 email messages to finalize what under Marriott was a comparatively straightforward reservation. To make sure the complicated Hilton reservation was understandable, we accompanied our family members to check-in and explained it to the staff member at the front desk and she understood that this was essentially a single three-night reservation and it should be treated as such. We introduced our family members and gave the Hilton representative their name. We assumed there was some type of message that was embedded into the reservation so that other staff would understand, but nothing could be further from the truth. We received a call the following day that we needed to stop by the front desk again and check out and check in again and have the entry cards replaced. We again explained the situation and made clear that this was a ridiculous way to structure the reservation given that the only difference was the differing payment methods. That is a Hilton back-office process and should not make any difference for the hotel guest. There is also a straightforward process given our Gold status there was a breakfast credit and it is supposed to be applied each day to any charges. That same day the Hilton staff could not manage this process either and a heated discussion ensued between a front desk staff member and the food and beverage employee managing the breakfast. Our family members ended up getting charged for breakfast without consideration for the credit. After a long Thanksgiving family celebration, we dropped off our family members at the hotel and returned home. Sadly, our family members were treated miserably when they could not enter their room. The front desk staff said that our family members were forcibly checked out as there was no reservation for a third night. When asked where their belongings were the front desk staff said they did not know. Rather than giving key cards to our family members to check if their items were in the room, they were escorted by Hilton staff to the room where the room was cleaned and the belongings were there. The staff also said it would be $250 for them to stay Thanksgiving night, which would be due immediately, even though there was a third night already reserved with points that were drawn out of our account. Our family members explained the whole situation to us the next morning as we picked them up to take them to the airport. We were furious and explained the situation to the staff at the front desk. We had to explain the entire situation to James who was working at the front desk, as there obviously was no transfer of the details for the reservation. We had to go to the airport given the pending flight, but we returned and explained in detail to James what happened and he pulled up the three separate reservations and pieced it together. James called us later that day and ultimately apologized and admitted there was “a lack of communication on our part.” The understatement of the year! He had the $250 credited to our family members credit card for the night and the credit for breakfast was resolved.
I transport items all over the country. Staying in hotels every night. Great location for shops/ food and clean rooms. Unfortunately there is no parking if you can't fit in a parking garage especially if you have a trailer. Had to park at a grocery store and carry all my stuff down the street to the hotel. I was told at front desk I can use debt card or quarters to do laundry. That is wrong. You have to download a stupid app, make an account. They want routing & account bank numbers social security info. Way to much info just to start the damn washer machine. And who was the idiot who did the math thinking 1 washer & dryer would be enough for 6 floors of people in a building! But I guess it doesn't matter since they make it so complicated just to start the machines no one will want to use them. I will never stay again.
This is a very impressive hotel with great amenities and fantastic service. We were treated like royalty by everyone from checkin, to the bar, and the restaurant staff. We only stayed one night, but the staff made us feel welcomed! I highly recommend this hotel!
