This property offers convenient airport parking and transportation, but recent reviews highlight a declining maintenance standard and significant service issues. Guests frequently report infrastructure failures like broken elevators and hot water shortages, compounded by a staff that ranges from exceptionally helpful to notably rude.
This DoubleTree is a little rundown with some glaring maintenance issues. The elevator on one side of the building was out of service all 4 days I was there. There was no hot water every morning, which is a big deal. They said they needed to repair a boiler, but again this seemed to take days and not hours to fix. There was one very rude front desk lady… I stopped to ask about breakfast, and as I was walking away, I overheard her telling a coworker that some guests “just don’t listen during check-in” even though this was NOT mentioned to me during check-in. Cookies are still delicious, but the rude lady was upset when I asked for another one. (And she said No.) When I arrived for a quick breakfast at the buffet on Tuesday morning, they had no more scrambled eggs and no more bacon, which made me sad. The room was clean, and the shuttle drivers are exceptionally helpful and friendly. But as a Hilton Diamond member who loves the DoubleTrees, this one is disappointing.
I have been staying here for at least 10 years. It was my go-to hotel when coming to Charlotte for meetings. The location is perfect. However, the hotel is run down now and the staff is too. I get sick now every time I stay here. It has a very bad mold smell in most of the hotel. So, if you have allergies, avoid this hotel at all costs. The hot water ran out again at the hotel. Cold showers are never fun. The front desk staff was rude when I notified him. They have since built many new hotels in this area thstvate very nice. I was staying here each time as a loyal customer. But, I will not be staying here any longer. Something is always broken at this hotel now. The elevator also broke. They need to close this hotel down for a full remodel immediately.
I called and spoke to Jefferi ( operations manager ) as I required information in order to get my packages sent over. He was very rude, lacks any customer service skills, he hung up on me four times while in the midst of trying to get the required information. He told others at the front desk to hang up on me. He passed me around on the phone speaking to multiple people. He is very uneducated, requires more training in terms of general hotel knowledge and customer service. It was a very poor experience. My experience questioned if others have experienced the same so I went online to read all the review. There seems to be a consensus that this hotel lacks any customer service and you should look elsewhere. jefferi is better suited for a job far away from any customer contact.
Traveling on business, I arrived at the hotel and the first thing that stood out is that it’s dreary. The colors are all grey themed and muted. The rooms are the same. Check in was easy and the staff were nice, but was immediately incorrectly charged for the room and was later rectified. The shower was great, but the toilet was not. It regularly clogged and the water pressure was poor. The bed was relatively comfy, but the pillows were not. The elevator was broken. The room could not get to a comfortable temperature. It was either too cold or too hot. The tv signal went out a few times. Overall, it’s a decent hotel for an overnight stay on business. Anything more might leave more to be desired.
The fact that you have to pay the premium $5/day price for the Internet to even remotely work is such a ripoff! Food decent, average room. But you can't even make a simple video call or anything with their free wifi.
Good hotel. Room was clean and everything was well maintained. Personnel were friendly and the shuttle was very schedule driven (I'd be on time to it if you plan on using it)
Giving two stars for the employees in the restaurant. Super kind and helpful. Everyone else was not. Rooms are dated, unclean and the air just shuts off in the middle of the night when the temperature outside is very cold. Waited for the shuttle for a long time and it just wasn’t there. Roaches in hallway. Not very clean please do better.
Got stuck in the elevator. When I called the front desk to let them know I was stuck they said oh Jesus and hung up. Someone came right away, but it would have been nice to communicate that. Took 15 minutes to check, not because of a line, but because no one was at the desk. Coffee was empty the first morning. Breakfast is $19. Parking spots are extremely narrow.
I stayed here because of proximity to the airport, parking costs, and the availability of shuttle to the airport in the morning. I was told to be in the lobby 5 minutes prior to my shuttle time of 6:00am. I was in the lobby at 5:45. After being ignored by the desk working for 15 minutes, I asked if there was anything special I needed to do about the shuttle. He then I formed me they didn't have a driver this morning. I was the only one in the lobby and he didn't say anything. He said I just "blended in", even though I was standing 4ft away from the desk. So I had to get an Uber, which delayed my time getting to the airport and was a hefty fee. Now I'm in line to check my bag, and IF I make my flight, it's going to be very close. Otherwise, the rooms was nice, clean, and quiet. Just a hassle to start a travel day with poor service and being ignored.
We stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Charlotte Airport while travelling with my wife, our 11-month-old twins, and a 3-year-old — and the experience was absolutely appalling. We booked well in advance and specifically requested two Pack ’n Plays for the twins. As instructed, my wife called 24 hours before arrival to reconfirm, and we were assured they would be available. After several hours of flying with three small children, we arrived at the hotel around 8:00pm. Two Pack ’n Plays were delivered to the room, but by 9:00pm we discovered that one was broken and unusable. When I went to the front desk, the Operations Manager on duty, Jeffrey, was dismissive and unhelpful. He told me the hotel only has four Pack ’n Plays and that they are “not guaranteed.” His solution? He suggested I go to Walmart and buy my own. At 9:30pm, exhausted and desperate, I actually had to do exactly that. Being told by a Hilton employee to leave the hotel late at night and buy essential baby equipment — after it had been requested and confirmed — is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, our so-called “suite” had a pull-out sofa bed that was broken, dirty, and had used socks underneath, raising serious concerns about housekeeping standards. We were offered another room, but at 9:30pm, with three young children and seven large suitcases, moving rooms was simply not realistic. I have stayed in many hotels and have never been treated this poorly. Advising a guest with infants to solve a hotel failure by going shopping at Walmart is unprecedented. This stay was stressful, exhausting, and deeply disappointing. I would strongly advise families — especially those travelling with babies — to avoid this hotel.
