Recent reviews highlight significant issues at the Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte North, primarily stemming from ongoing construction and related disruptions. Guests reported weak Wi-Fi, water shutoffs with inadequate notification, noise complaints, and cleanliness concerns, alongside some positive feedback regarding friendly staff and convenient location. Several reviews indicated confusion about renovation status and communication issues.
Stay had been /okay/ one thing all hiltons need to consider during a renovation is wifi upgrades. I'm in a one bedroom unit with a very weak signal. I rely heavily on internet usage for work. Hilton needs to realize that 10-50mbps is something that the early 2000's wants back. It would've been easy to run a few new wires to expand the wifi coverage.
It was okay for a two night stay. The hotel was doing renovations. It was on the site and posted in the hotel. After getting to my room, I immediately requested new sheets and pillow cases as the sheets and one pillowcase had very ugly stains on them. The water was also brown but they assured this was because the water had been turned off for a few hours before. They also gave us free breakfast vouchers for the issue. The next day the water turned off while my partner was in the shower… right before this, I got a text asking how my stay was. I responded saying there was no water. The front desk simply said “we under construction. The water will be off for 2hrs” if you knew this information, why not send that out instead of asking how the stay was going??? They kept saying they can’t notify but clearly they could’ve. Making people aware even if last minute would be helpful verses waiting for people to call and complain. Staying at a hotel under renovation was fine but a little communication would be great. Especially since the front desk said they were full.
We didn't end up staying here because we ran into an issue while trying to book a room for four people. The third-party booking sites only showed options requiring us to book two separate rooms instead of one room for all four of us. When we spoke with the front desk, I didn't feel much effort was made to see if there were any other options available. In similar situations at other hotels, staff have at least offered to check whether they could provide a comparable rate or another solution when third-party bookings didn't work out. Here, that wasn't offered. The receptionist initially came across as a bit standoffish. Although she became friendlier as we continued talking, many of her responses were "I don't know" and "I'm only human; I don't know about the websites." While I understand she may not control third-party booking sites, that comment didn't really address our concerns or help move the conversation forward. I think there is room for improvement in customer service. On a positive note, the location is great. It's close to plenty of stores and restaurants and is within walking distance of many conveniences.
With construction, there were parking and noise challenges. However, Every question or concern we raised was addressed with respect by Brigette or Clayton. I appreciated that. Plenty of diffused lighting and outlets included USB and C chargers. ??The bed was soft and not too high. Nice pillows but we thought the sheets were grabby and did not wick moisture. In the restoom, shower head is too high for short people to adjust. No bath, so not great for children, maybe install a handheld. I didn't like water adjustment and he grabbar are on the toilet side. Who is exiting into a toilet? A bath mat doesn't even fit there. The inside shower towel bar is not slip resistant, almost an oopsie! There is a small ledge for leg shaving. The blackout shield closes out most light, but sunlight does come through the sides, so bring a mask! I use Metro and was not able to see any available wifi, although there were towers nearby. My companion uses Verizon and had no issues. Overall I would consider returning if in the area - especially if the pool has reopened.
The rooms were fine but definitely don't stay during the renovation. Jack-hammering at 9 am. Water shutoff twice with no warning of any kind for over an hour. When I asked the front desk was told there was no way for them to notify and no solutions were offered of any kind. Definitely didn't feel like a valued customer.
The pool is being cemented over. Didn't know until we arrived renovations that start early in the morning were going on & tissue & toilet tissue are extremely thin. The room was nice, clean. Water was $3 & EVERYTHING costs you extra. Nothing is complimentary.
We are never disappointed when staying at Hilton Garden Inn. The staff here were very professional and friendly. They spoke eveytime we walked past them. Check in was easy and so was the check out. Clean lobby & room. We were on the second floor. Stayed 3 nights. Close to our various locations we visited. Ice machine worked, not noisy at all. Room attendant cleaned our room nicely. We'll definitely be back!
When arrived, parking was scarce. The property is older as well so we were concerned about the experience. We figured it was one night on our way to our final destination so it will be ok. The lobby was nice but the gentleman that greeted us, Clayton, was what made it top-notch. He immediately told us that the hotel was under renovation but he proactively moved us to the only floor that was complete. The pipes were noisy at times but only for short period of time. He gave us waters and checked on us. Really appreciated Clayton’s extra attention to comfort. He was polite, warm, professional, helpful and made it a delightful experience. The room was clean, upgraded and comfortable.
Old and nasty rooms ?!! We arrived to travel to another city, but we couldn't move to another one. It was a bad experience; we couldn't find parking because it was closed for remodeling, and when we finally found one the next morning, it was Sunday and they started working early. When we left at 9 am, we found they were working next to my car and had to clear it away to be able to leave. The clogged bathtub and sink mean they don't do maintenance. We couldn't open the bathroom because the door handle came completely off and it wouldn't open until the next morning. Do not rent if you are going to make arrangements because it makes people have a bad stay
We stopped at this hotel after a long 14 hour drive. What an amazing find. Impeccable and kind service, clean and spacious room, affordable price, great location right off the highway, wonderful breakfast cooked by the mother of the amazing woman who checked us in late in the evening. Overall, an amazing experience. We will definitely be back.
