This central Charlotte Marriott offers comfortable rooms and excellent dining, particularly at the onsite restaurant, with excellent valet service and friendly staff across most interactions. However, guests consistently report significant issues with valet staff shortages, leading to long wait times and a lack of communication regarding vehicle retrieval, as well as concerns about potentially discriminatory service during check-in.
The hotel is decent overall and the rooms are manageable, though they could definitely use some updates. However, charging $61 for parking for just one night is unacceptable. There’s no clear rate information provided and you don’t even receive a receipt for the parking. When we asked about it, the hotel wouldn’t discuss the pricing and the valet manager simply said, “it is what it is.” I’ve stayed here several times before and valet used to be much more affordable, so this increase was surprising. On top of that, the Wi-Fi didn’t work during the stay. For the price, there are much nicer hotels available for less.
Great location in the CBD. Kind and helpful staff. Spacious, clean rooms, with lovely smelling soaps and such. The water pressure and temperature was a bit low in the higher floors though. I was on 12 and a coworker on 16 and we had similar issues with the water. Won’t knock a point off the score, because that is an issue I’ve experienced before with conferences when every attendee is waking up and getting ready at the same time in the same building.
This was a staycation trip for my birthday. Overall, the valet service was TOP TEIR, the room service staff was pleasant, the room was very clean, cleaning staff was very nice and accommodating, and the shower had great water pressure! The reason I gave the resort a 2 star overall was the check in and check out process. I observed as guests (who were of a different race from me) were provided more information and staff were more attentive to. For example, the guests were taken to the elevator and shown how to use it. Everything was explained in great detail to them. When it was my turn to check in, I was handed my room key and told what I would charged each night. I was not escorted anywhere. To be fair, once staff realized I was a member their tone changed. They did make sure I earned my points for the stay. Another example, guests who didn’t share the same race as me were checked in even though I was in line first. The resort could benefit from a training in race, equity, and inclusion,
Valet parking was phenomenal. Andrew and Ryan were very helpful and very knowledgeable. Super cool dudes as well. The rooms were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. All of the staff were very nice and the location is great. Quick access to everything! Only downside is at night you can hear the clubs music nextdoor when you are trying to sleep.
I attended a business conference here today. I can not comment on the rooms as I did not stay. What I did see of the hotel, seemed to be very well maintained and clean. Valet was awesome! I was able to get right in upon arrival despite the large number of conference attendees. Payment and having my car returned at the end of the day was fast and seamless. Jesse, Ryan and Andrew with the valet team were very polite and extremely efficient. Great location for a conference!
Had dinner in the restaurant after checking in about 9:30in the evening. Our server who was also a bartender was very knowledgeable about the food and drink choices. I had shrimp and grits ?. She made me two awesome old fashioned's. The room was very comfortable. The HVAC unit in the room was so quiet and never had to adjust the temperature at all. This was a great feature as well, the ATM in the lobby changes bills ?
Thank you and your associates for an absolutely wonderful stay! Your property is beautiful - impeccably clean and comfortable. Your associates are all courteous, polite, and welcoming. We were happily greeted and checked in by Kiana at the front desk, who provided wonderful service with such a positive attitude! Additionally, a few interactions over the course of our stay with Kiana were always welcoming and pleasant, with the same positive attitude and smile. Associates in the M Club Lounge were exceptional, especially Precious and Patty, and an additional young man on Saturday evening (who's name we didn't get). This property is conveniently located to the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, the Arena, and so much more in waking distance.
I stayed here this week during work trip. I stayed at this hotel many years ago. I recall at the time that the hotel was outdated. Not sure when it was updated, but the hotel lobby and rooms look great. The petulant, bar, and cafe are nice. There is so much seating in the lobby. It’s great. It’s still 4 stars for me though. For one, the water pressure in my room was bad. As you’ll see in the video, the water flows directly from the shower head straight down to the drain. There was no pressure. I needed to use the handheld shower head to take a shower. On my last, a technician was working on the ice machine on my floor shortly after 6am, making noise and most likely waking some people up. Also, the overnight valet was NOT. She was upset when I came to pick up my car but had not requested it first via my phone. However I couldn’t request my vehicle because the valet that took in my car a couple days before did not have the system send me the text message.
Everything was great until we went to bed. Checked in, was wife’s birthday so she let them know. They put us on the 14th floor, but we thought maybe we’d have better views. Nothing special, but all night all we could hear was footsteps. Not regular steps but heels on a wood floor type sound, faint music. I called the front desk but the issue persisted until late into the night.
We flew in a on a red eye and weren't sure if we could check in early. Christopher who was working, immediately offered us early check in and was just so kind and pleasant. After being so tired from the plane, to have someone just take care of everything we needed was so wonderful!!
