The Aloft Charlotte City Center receives mixed guest reviews, highlighting a convenient downtown location and friendly staff, particularly at the front desk. However, recurring concerns involve noise levels (street traffic and thin walls), cleanliness issues, and inconsistent service, as well as perplexing billing errors and a lack of responsiveness from hotel management to guest complaints.
one of the worst hotels. hotel provides ear plugs?. the loud cars at night makes sense. also the AC wasnt quite. also, when we stayed , the kid was crying in the hall around 5/6am, really. the room also had humidity. you need to take 2 elevators to get to rooms. location isnt best. would not recommend. we left earlier. only positive for me was the bed itself i.e. wasnt soft. pillows though were sooo flat??
Staff at this location is amazing especially Terrie! This woman has generosity and drive like no other. Very attentive and kind. Made my family feel like she was pleased to help us not that it was just a job. This woman needs to be promoted. She has elite customer service skills and does it all with a smile. With the service I received from Terrie I would definitely recommend.
I don't normally do this but I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a little about our experience at this hotel. The minute we arrived we were greeted by two amazing front desk employees, Mikey and A'Darion. We stayed at the hotel for 4 days and three nights and each time we passed the front desk and one or both of these gentlemen were there, they greeted us with a good morning, good afternoon or good evening Mr and Mrs Rodriguez. They truly cared about our visit and our little trip to the Queen City. There were a couple of small requests that we made that were taken care of almost instantaneously by these two gentlemen. You both should be commended by the powers that be for the job that you do. The hotel is exactly what we expected it to be. Quite pleasant with everything we needed for our stay. The street traffic was a little loud and the next time we stay we will ask to be put in a room that can remedy that. Overall the location is fantastic with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. We ate at the steakhouse below the hotel, Fleming's and it was outstanding. If you're contemplating a trip to Charlotte I would highly suggest a stay at this hotel largely in part to its tremendous staff. Thank you gentlemen for taking care of us for a few days and we will see you again in the fall!.. Eddie and Mimi Rodriguez
When you walk in and there are earplugs it should have been a warning. The hotel is beat and not up to Marriot Standards. Our room wasn’t ready at chai in so they gave us an accessible room. The mattress basically sat on the floor. Plugged into the bedside receptacle and it didn’t work . Asked to be moved and they said no they were booked. Watched the engineer who was great and the only redeeming factor at the hotel try to fix the problem for two hours. Actually missed the meeting I had came for, but was going to change hotels if they were not fixed. After two hours low and behold the hotel become unbooked and they moved us. It is incredibly noisy at night. They actually offer sound machines. Stay anywhere else!
Room was clean and nice for one night. No outside noise came through, I was on the 11th floor. The valet parking is cheaper than just self parking as the self parking charges hourly and valet is for your stay. My car came back to me the same as I gave it to them, no strong odors or trash. The staff were very nice and helpful. Some seemed newer but they all were very nice and competent at helping me. I like how theres also some food places within walking distance of the hotel so I didn’t need my car at all.
Had an amazing time this weekend here. Right in the middle of the city, valet parking, food places and bars all around you. The staff was extremely friendly, always greeted when arriving and leaving with smiles on their face! They have a little drink and snack area, and the bar which you can charge straight to the room which I loved. Only sketchy thing was we got 2 random charges for $100 and $200 at 3:10am and 3:11am and they had no real reasoning behind it except the system randomly does that or resets or something but we keep our card locked, I almost wonder how many people are being taken from and maybe not realizing it..because of the time of the charges trying to be taken and if you are loaded anyways, you maybe would assume it’s just a random charge for the room. I was told several people had that issue with it happening so maybe it is a system thing but I’m not sure. Loved this place though, just keep your card locked! Lol
As a meeting planner managing a program for 30+ attendees, I look for partners who deliver consistency, flexibility, and exceptional service, and Aloft Charlotte City Center exceeded expectations across every touchpoint. Cassidy, Jeanna, and the entire hotel team demonstrated outstanding professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail throughout the planning and execution process. From coordinating our welcome reception to supporting general sessions and breakout meetings, the staff ensured a seamless and well-orchestrated experience for our group. The catering offerings were excellent, featuring high-quality food and thoughtful presentation that enhanced attendee satisfaction. Additionally, the WXYZ Bar team provided phenomenal service and created an engaging environment that supported networking and social interaction. Guest rooms were modern, comfortable, and well appointed, providing an ideal balance of productivity and relaxation for our attendees. I would confidently recommend Aloft Charlotte City Center to fellow planners seeking a reliable venue for corporate meetings, group programs, and events. Their commitment to service, event execution, and overall guest experience makes them a strong partner for successful programs.
At check in, the room smells like it was hotboxed with smoking the day before. Front desk moved us with no issue. Here comes the issue….. at checkout my brand new car had clearly been smoked in by valet. I made them aware on the spot and they told me to call Marriott. Seems crazy but i did. Aloft GM reached out to me the next week and attempted to rectify the situation with the parking deck management. It was drug out for weeks with no resolution. I spoke to the GM and he assured it would be handled in their next meeting. I followed up post meeting and he told me he felt they weren’t going to do anything and he disagreed with that. He said he could call me again to discuss……. It’s been 1.5 more months, I’ve made numerous calls, left countless voicemails and nothing. The car had less than 1,000 miles, we are non smokers. So I was forced to spend $300 to have the car professionally deodorized. I feel it’s extremely unfair that Marriott and the property didn’t step up and do the right thing here. I fluctuate between titanium and ambassador and they couldn’t care less. If coming to uptown, I’d advise against choosing this property.
A nice Marriott property in downtown Charlotte very close to the AC Hotel. I needed a room overnight and this was the price leader. Despite the very reasonable price the room was really nice add functional, check in was a breeze thanks Mike) and Uber to the morning meeting was easy right out the front door. The place has a little bit more of a party vibe rather than a business Hotel but but that had nice energy and was not a distraction. I would have loved a little bit more detail about breakfast and how it worked when I checked in. Some folks had coupons I didn't. It's just not what I'm used to at most other Marriott properties.
Maybe I'm getting old or just to pampered from other hotels. When I stepped off the elevator I walked out into a dark almost Gothic looking area with a front desk for customers and it just didn't feel right. At least I immediately figured out the source of the smell of marijuana in the elevator. I arrived a little early and asked if my room was available. One person said "no" while the other let her know that there were indeed 2 rooms available. I then had to listen to the back and forth between them. The whole time I'm hoping things get better than they look.... The hotel feels old, and needs a complete makeover if that is possible. Hands down the worst hotel I've been to in years. I actually felt sorry for the employees that seem to be stuck in a warped hotel purgatory dipped in deodorizer to kill the cannabis smell. The only positive is the "Band of Brothers" relationship I developed with the other confused souls that were bamboozled by the Aloft pictures on the reservation site and of course the earplugs thoughtfully placed in the room for the hotrods conveniently running time trials on the street at 2am.
