Guest experiences vary significantly, with a loyal Hilton Honors member praising the friendly staff and clean rooms, while others report severe issues including pest infestations, black mold, broken amenities, and rude service. A prior positive review is notably contradicted by extremely negative recent reports regarding cleanliness and maintenance.
I’ve been a loyal Hilton Honors member for several years, and this location continues to impress. I’ve stayed here twice in the past six months, and the staff has been consistently friendly, professional, and welcoming. The rooms and facilities are always clean and well?maintained, living up to Hilton’s standards. (It may be time to refresh a few of the lamp shades, but nothing that affects the overall experience.) Also, please upgrade to smart tvs. The front desk agent who answered my call that morning and checked me in that evening provided Execptional Hilton Service. ( reach out for confirmation number to recognize this amazing lady!) The only minor drawback was that I now use digital business cards and wasn’t able to enter the drawing for the 15,000 Hilton Honors points. I’ll be sure to bring a physical card on my next visit. Overall, this remains one of the best hotel options in the Charlotte–University City area.
I stayed at this hotel from February 19–21, 2026 in Room 208, and unfortunately my stay was cut short due to what appeared to be a serious pest issue. During my first night, I woke up around 4 a.m. and found a dead cockroach on the floor. After showering I noticed multiple spider bites on my left hip and lower leg. I immediately packed my belongings and informed the front desk. I did not feel my concerns were handled with urgency or care. Since leaving, the bites have become infected and have worsened to the point that I needed medical attention. I have contacted management by phone and email regarding this matter and am still seeking resolution.
This place has absolutely went down hill this use to be a place that me and my family loved to come and stay from Time to time the manger here was very rude and that was very Unacceptable and is from Africa so the last time i was here I couldn't really understand what he was saying but I didn't like the disrespect to me or my family so with that being said we want be coming back it use to be a young lady that work there by the name of STAR ? she had Really good customer service skills and my family loved her so this was definitely a no for me so home 2 suites yall need to go find that young lady and bring her back
I checked into this hotel for a business trip of 6 days. It’s day 3 of me being here, when I initially checked in Sunday evening there was a sign that said “be back soon” with no timeline of when someone would return to the front desk to check me in. I found this to be a pattern, in the evenings there is no one available at the front to assist, greet, or welcome you so be prepared to wait around until someone walks out from the back at their own leisure. My thermostat is not functional, my sink drain is clogged, and there was hair all over the restroom. Not to mention the furniture is stained pretty badly and gross. I submitted a work order, and the broken items have not been repaired, I let the front desk know for a second time and shall see if it’s resolved today. In addition, all the outlets in my room are loose and my charges do not stay plugged in. I’ve had to find a wall charger on the other side of the room to charge my devices. This hotel is outdated with no smart TVs so if you are staying for a longer period be prepared for standard cable. I am a big fan of the Home2 Suites brand, and am incredibly disappointed in the overall quality of this specific one. Wouldn’t recommend for the price and would suggest staying at the Marriott located directly in front.
We arrived early and there wasn’t any rooms ready. My dog was having a medical emergency and the gentleman with the cast on his arm and manager helped me greatly with looking up the vet and got us into a room as soon as one was ready. I was really appreciative of that and honestly the whole stay was great. MINUS- the breakfast server. She was awful and so rude to numerous guests both mornings we were down there. Don’t be at a job like that if your going to make guests feel unwelcome and uncomfortable just trying to eat.
We stayed here twice, going and coming from Asheville. The first stay, on Monday nite, the check in went smoothly but not particularly warm or inviting. Just ok. The room was adequate, but missing amenities for a Home2Suites. None of the kitchen supplies were here. Only 3 pillows on bed ( we each use 2) but the extra pillows in cabinet for the pull out sofa had no pillowcases. The lady at desk said we could come back down to get more as she was alone. We are both handicapped and the walk was too far so we're going to make do. She showed up about 20 minutes later with more pillows and pillowcases which was kind. TV only has " live" no choices like Netflix , HBOMax streaming or any of the other choices we had offered at the Home2Suites in Asheville. All channels are sports, cartoon, or news except the HBO 4 channels , so if not anything good on those 4 channels , you are out of luck. Unfortunately, next day broke the camels back as the breakfast was appalling. We are both diabetic, and Home2suites " offers" a build your own breakfast sandwich". Not here! ONLY OFFERINGS were all carbs, with the waffles, oatmeal, dry cereal and this hard little "sandwich" , if you could call it that, that was so hard you could knock on it ! Like a rock or hockey puck! The slice of who knows what meat, looked like paper thin salami, and a nasty little round flat "egg " on it ,about 2 inches across . Could NOT eat it as the biscuit or whatever the bread was, just cracked and broke into little hard pieces. Inedible! There was some white sliced cheese but what to put it on? The hockey puck which was 1/3 the size of a slice of American cheese wasn't edible, so this was not helpful. The build your own is supposed to be eggs, cheese, meats, different breads . Here, NOTHING! The yogurt machine had an " out of order " sign on it, which she took OFF as she pulled the gate promptly at 9am. (??) (So why have it on there,? ) Her name was Dee , and apparently not interested in her job. We had to go OUT to get a decent protein breakfast. We had a" nonrefundable, no modifications " return reservation here on Friday, couldn't get out of coming here, so we were actually forced to return. THIS visit was like we were in a completely different hotel! At check in the woman was very helpful, came around to us to tell us all about the hotel. Told her about breakfast Monday and was assured that " Ann" was working Saturday morning so WOULD be a good breakfast layout. ( So if they know about Dee, why hasn't she been retrained to do her job properly?) Ann was WONDERFUL! So cheerful, so helpful! Greeted us VERY warmly when we came down, went to back to find us some greenish ( our preferred) bananas, and some oranges, REDID the yogurt machine to be sure it was fresh, had fluffy folded over eggs, omelet type with some cheese in the middle, sausage patties, dinner rolls, WRAPPED apples, WRAPPED bagels, WRAPPED sliced bread to keep it FRESH! MUCH better breakfast, with a VERY LOVELY lady, Ann, helping us to be sure we had EVERYTHING we needed! She is a treasure! We are even going to stay another night, knowing she will be here tomorrow morning, ( and said she will also have French toast tomorrow for us!) This was a MUCH better stay, and even though owner is going cheap with the TV choices, this visit was a 180 turnaround from Monday's visit.
This hotel should be condemned – unsafe and unhealthy. I stayed there on a business trip to UNCC (3 rooms for my team). I changed rooms during that visit, but the problems are systematic across rooms. Black mold in the bathrooms. A rotten bathroom door. Heavily stained carpets all over the room. All light fixtures with no exceptions are dirty and rusted. Some light fixtures are not working, and some are missing light bulbs. Water marks on lamp shades. The couches are stained, falling apart, and smelly (possibly molded). Even the TV was dirty. The elevators inspection is past due and some of the lights were not working. I tried to reach the management of the hotel, but it remained silent. I tried to reach the owner of the hotel through Raines Company with no luck either. See selected pictures and judge for yourself. The location is good, but there are many other hotels to choose from. The hotel rating must be boosted by bots, but if you read carefully through the reviews (many with the same pictures), you'll find that the ownership could not care less, and this is persistent for years.
Room was nice and clean. A bit dusty but who cares. There was a broken light fixture on the wall. My only complaint is that the WiFi is TERRIBLE. I am here for business and could barely navigate the internet due to connectivity issues.
The property shares a parking lot with Fairfield and can accommodate trailers or oversized vehicles. The room is pretty standard for Home2 Suites. The lotion mounted on the bathroom wall was coming off. I notified the front desk and it wasn't fixed the first day. The second day the maid came to clean my room and it wasn't fixed when I came back in the evening. Obviously, the staff doesn't care about keeping the property up to standard. The sockets on the nightstand needed to be replaced because it was like plugging into a hole, not a socket. The shower had hair on the tub floor, 2 short ones and a long one. If I was the owner, heads would be rolling. But management and leadership in the Hilton chain seem to be severely lacking.
I picked this Hilton Home2 hotel because it is located 5 minutes from where I was working for the week in Charlotte. I have been a consistent business traveler for over 30 years and I have stayed at a handful of Home2 locations in the past. I stayed in the King Suite at this location for 10 days. Where do I begin... Upon checking in I was flatly told the pool was broken when I asked what time it closed. It was broken the entire 10 days I was there. One of the two elevators was broken, which I found out by standing in the lobby after checking in for what seemed like an eternity after having pushed the button, when a housekeeper walked up and told me "that one is broken". No sign or anything. I guess one of those things you are just supposed to figure out on your own. When I got into my room, I was stunned by the condition it was in. I won't waste space describing everything individually that was stained, just know that everything from the couch to the floor to the mattress to the walls were stained with some unknown substance. The mattress was obviously bloodstained. The sofa looked like something you would find on the side of the road. Ripped and covered in unknown stains with the stuffing coming out. The desk chair was literally falling apart. The covering on the armrests were falling off in pieces. Multiple surfaces had the telltale signs of a cigarette that had been laid on it and forgotten. The shower was covered in mildew and the drain and shower floor had hair all over it. The water pressure trickled out to the point that I had to wash my feet separately in the bathroom sink. The toilet only was able to flush once in around 15 minutes time, and to actually make it flush completely you had to stand there and hold the button down for around 10 seconds. The chain to open the blinds broke when I pulled it the first time. Over the years, I've stayed at some pretty dismal places at times. I think the condition of this hotel ranks as the worst I have ever experienced, and I am shocked that HILTON allows their name to be on it. It honestly makes a run of the mill Extended Stay look like luxury. Suffice it to say that I won't be staying here or at any other Home2 in the future.
