The Moxy Charlotte Downtown offers a trendy, social experience in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, with a focus on a vibrant bar scene and unique design. However, some guests report cramped rooms, inconvenient check-in procedures, and challenges with amenities like parking and refrigerators. Despite these concerns, many reviewers appreciate the hotel’s location, convenient amenities, and friendly staff.
Not my favorite. Check-in is way up on the 13th floor in the rooftop bar area, which means lots of slow elevatoring up and down to get a room, check out, etc. Rooms are tiny and designed to force you to visit that upstairs bar/restaurant if you want to do anything besides shower and sleep. My room had a tiny fold-out desk with no appropriate chair for it, a bed, an admittedly good shower, and hooks on the wall for clothes storage because there was literally no other space for anything (in a $300/night “king room”). Worse, the hotel only offers valet parking, which requires you to sign up digitally with another company, pay $55 overnight, pay a convenience fee to tip your valet, and then wait in a long (20+ min) queue for your car in the morning, when of course everyone is trying to leave. Staff here was friendly and helpful, but the value just isn’t there for this Moxy brand from Bonvoy and I won’t be staying at one again.
A very “Quirky” hotel that none of us were expecting. The family of 13+ decided to stay there because of the amazing 13th floor entertainment area where the service was absolutely great! It’s definitely a hotel for the young as most of the seating is low- couches, toilets, chairs, etc. Warning- don’t expect closets. You hang your clothes on pegs on the wall?. You check in on the 13th floor entertainment area (awesome area). The food and drinks were delicious! No microwave, coffee maker, or refrigerator in the room.? There is an area on each floor called “The Swag” where amenities are freely stocked for your use (loved this)! Item of concern- BEWARE- we were there Thursday - Sunday and used the Valet service. We never had to call for our car until we checked out- three (3) days later. Our car was delivered to us with the passenger seat fully reclined back as far as it would go. Who and what was going on in our car??? We asked the Valet manager. He didn’t show any concern and said he would ask. No apology. That was the last straw and left a sore spot. We love Marriotts and are members and will not stay there again and don’t recommend it.
After many trips and stays in Uptown Charlotte, this hotel has been the absolute best! From the location, the aura, the staff and the overall vibes this is the spot to stay. Located behind the Spectrum Center it is absolutely ideal for walking around Uptown, bar hopping, concerts and of course Midnight Diner. It all started with the valet being super friendly and helpful. Prices were well priced for the location and even the overnight price wasn't bad. Check in was smooth and flawless and even includes a few drink tokens! Definitely try their Vodka cherry soda (add a lime and it tastes just like cherry limeade)! Room was very clean with a great view of the city. With a handheld steamer and a TV that connects to your Bluetooth it was perfect for getting ready for a night out. The bar. Absolutely amazing, if I could rate the bar 5 stars alone I would. Shoutout to Alex my birthday twin, Michelle and Mason for an amazing evening of music, drinks and overall energy. All were super friendly, very knowledgeable about the city and offered amazing bar recommendations. Outside they have a small but very nice patio with a great view, corn hole boards and a lot of comfy seating. Although it was raining it was covered and felt very nice with the wind. A complete 10/10 experience, already rebooked and will definitely recommend and stay again!!!
Phenomenal experience! The crew were friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond. The environment is such a cool vibe. The burger and fries we ate were absolutely delicious. The rooms had all that you needed and fit the vibe of the hotel, though were somewhat basic. Right across from the Spectrum Center so made it easy to attend the game and walk right back. Will be back and recommend to all!
Staff is great as is the rooftop bar. Rooms are okay unless you need to work on your computer there. I took my laptop up to the bar and worked from there and it was much more comfortable. There isn't a closet in the room either altho I didnt mind. They do have places/hangers to hang clothes if needed.
I chose this spot for the location but also the photos looked fun. The place does have unique vibes but I don’t think it was worth what I paid. Almost $300 for a room with one chair, no bathroom lock, door that had a broken footplate preventing it from closing on its own, rattling sound from the vent and a tv that barely had signal. It did provide us with a beautiful view of the city and a place to lay our heads. While I wasn’t sure what I expected, I do feel there are probably better lodging options.
Stayed here for 4 days on a work trip and this was my first time at a Moxy hotel. I’ve been at many different Marriott hotels before so definitely a different vibe, and approach from the standard chain of hotels. I followed the simple instructions to go to the bar for check in. They present you with a welcome cocktail as well which was a nice touch. The staff there are great and super helpful every-time I had questions. This 13th floor is a nice dynamic space to bring your laptop and get stuff done, or go to the bar which is also the restaurant or play any of the different games on the patio or the lounging area. The menu does not have a wide variety and they do give you a different menu for breakfast as well. Coffee is complimentary during the morning as well. I will suggest trying out local restaurants as there are a lot in downtown if Moxy’s offerings are not to your palate. The rooms are not going to be for everyone as people may be accustomed to closets, and having everything stocked for them. That’s where it is a bit different. It has a minimalist feel and each floor has a communal stash cabinet which I personally preferred. You can go there for any toiletries and amenities that you needed extra of. I will say the chair in the room is not ergonomic and difficult to sit and get up from and not made to sit on to use with the desk. I do love the foldable desk attached to the wall. Loved the gym on the fourth floor that’s open 24/7 and the bottle water filter there. I will return there for sure!
My stay was for two nights, Moxy in the middle of everything. Staff was wonderful, and I felt safe in the city. Facility was clean, excellent rooftop views. The 2 bed Queen room I had and the vibe I cannot recommend for older clients ( 70). Poor lighting, small sink in bath, but plenty of grab bars..never found the restaurant. Missing some amenities I enjoy. BUT, if you want to sleep, shower and go out on the town, have at it! Staff keep up the good work!
This was the perfect spot for us to stay!! We were right across the street from the Spectrum Center staying in the hotel with a bunch of other concert goers. The vibes were great. Everyone hung out at the bar and just enjoyed drinks and socializing before and after the concert. The room was cozy and just the right size. Perfect room for a 1 or 2 night stay! I am becoming a huge fan of Moxy hotels.
Amazing location! Downtown close to everything. We walked to the Spectrum Center and the Bank of America Stadium. The NASCAR Hal of Fame is also very close by. The rooftop bar has amazing views. Each floor had a little stash closet of amenities for anything we needed. The gym equipment was all top of the line.
